Players enjoyed a lovely lunch after the round, appreciated the warmth of the clubhouse and chatted amicably about their round of golf.

The second round of the 2023 Men’s Club Championships got under way on a beautiful autumn day; clear skies, just the slightest puff of a wind and a temperature in the mid to high teens.  The round was also the May Stableford round for the 2023 Bruce Robb Medal.   The fairways were again in top nick and the greens and surrounds were a pleasure to play on allowing the groups of three to move smoothly around the course.  The benign conditions saw some excellent golf with numerous players breaking their handicaps.  On another top day to out on the park the results were;

Wednesday May 9th – Rd 1 2023 Women’s Championships

The reigning club champion, Jenny Hartley, has a one shot lead over Darlene Baker after the first round of Club Championships. Conditions were quite heavy underfoot although there was still some run on the fairways.  The greens were slick having been cut early in the morning and we thank the green keeper, Steve, for his preparation for the championships. Saturday May 6th – Rd 1, 2023 Men’s Club Championships

After steady rain fell over most of Friday afternoon, evening and into the early hours of Saturday fairways, surrounds and greens were softer than in recent weeks and players faced a far longer course for the 1st round of the club championships;  While the rain held off for most of the round there was a SW wind pushing into the mid 20’sKph that gave all players pause to think carefully about club selection.  As always at Romsey, accuracy off the tee and when approaching the greens, was going to be the key.   However, despite the conditions there was some excellent scoring.    Results of the 1st round of the Men’s 2023 Club Championships were;
